Welcome to the Rotary Club of Breakwater Daybreak!

Rotary International is the world’s oldest service club with 33,000 clubs worldwide   who volunteer their time and talents to serve their communities and the world.    Our motto “Service Above Self” exemplifies the humanitarian spirit of the organization’s 1.2 million members.

Rotarians join their local club for many reasons.  Some are drawn by the opportunity to share in charitable projects, others to network with businessmen and women and to enjoy the fellowship.

At the local level, Breakwater Daybreak has funded scholarships for multicultural and international students who attend Southern Maine Community College.  We support scholarships for South Portland – Cape Elizabeth sophomores to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) weekend.   Most recently we donated dictionaries to 3rd grade student in South Portland’s elementary schools.    We respond to community needs and charitable requests.

Internationally, Breakwater Daybreak has supported literacy in Guatemala, has led a Group Study Exchange Group to India in January 2010 and has participated in the eradication of Polio during National Immunization Day in India.

Visitors are always welcome to join the fellowship and meet interesting speakers.

I look forward to a year of fellowship and service with each of you.

Ilse Yanis

President 2010-2011
